Fraying

Materials: watercolor pencil, sharpie, book page

Process: found a sentence on a random book page, sketched out the rough design of the lines connecting words, enlarged and printed book page on larger cardstock, sketched out design of hand and rope, erased all words excluding found sentence to make the words I wanted to be seen more clearly, colored with water color pencils and really went around the words I picked out darker than the background, went over pencil markings with thin sharpie, added details to rope and hand.

Idea: The sentence "his eyes watched for something else but that was not longer me" means that the "narrator" (ie, the person who is going through the journey) has been seeing signs that the person they like is no longer showing interest in them, if they had at all before. The rope is representing the narrator's connection/attraction to their person of interest, meaning that holding onto a feeling that is breaking. If you look closely, you can see the red under the rope, meaning that holding on is hurting them more than if they would let go.
